Tracking Congresscritters

Do you really know what your Congresscritter is up to? Probably not - but there's a free way to find out: Megavote.
Track your senators' and representative's votes by e-mail! Each week (that Congress is in session) you will receive: • Key votes by your two Senators and U.S. Representative. • Links to send e-mail to your members of Congress using pre-addressed forms. • Upcoming votes for your review and links to offer e-mail input before they vote
It's a good, easy, free way to keep tabs on those US Senators and Representatives. Give it a try: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/megavote/

Callous Conservatives

Back in 2000, we heard a lot about compassionate conservatives. Here we are, only five years later, with the new Ohio budget (which may well have passed by the time you read this). It's lean and trim - but like someone cursed with anorexia, it's far from healthy. There are lots of examples, but there's one that really bothers me. The whole point of welfare should be to get people to where they don't need it anymore, right? Yet when Democrats asked for a miniscule 0.00073% of the budget to help women leave welfare and find jobs - Republicans voted the idea down without comment. Ohio Republicans have once again shown themselves to be on the side of big fat cat businessmen - not working folks like you and me.
