Ted Strickland for Ohio's Governor
The 2006 Culture War has begun . . . and we are losing! If you somehow cannot fathom that Ohio’s General Assembly and statewide Office Holders have not been waging a Culture War – the first "volley" has already been "fired," evidenced by Ohio's Biennium Budget.
Message from Congressman Ted Strickland, posted on the campaign website:
http://tedstrickland.com /
Dear Friends,
I am honored to be running for Governor of Ohio.
Our great state is in desperate need of change, and I believe that I have the leadership, the vision, and the drive to lead Ohio to a new day.
There is no state in the nation like Ohio. But like many Ohioans, I see a state that has lost its way. The current Republican administration has failed to lead us, putting at risk the future of our state and the safety and strength of our families.
I won’t stand by and let that happen.
I will enter this office ready to pour my heart and soul into fighting for the dignity of families and all people in Ohio. I will dedicate myself to restoring the spirit, the hope, and the optimism of our great and beautiful state.
In the months ahead, I look forward to laying out my vision for Ohio’s future. It is a vision, which will bring Ohioans together to help rebuild our state, strengthen our communities, and lead our nation once again.
This is just a temporary web site, so please check back soon. Big changes are on the way!
Sincerely,
Ted Strickland
10 WAYS FOR TED!
1) Go to the Official Website of Ted Strickland for Governor:
http://tedstrickland.com /
and sign up to be a 'Volunteer For Ohio Progress' for Ted and the campaign today!
James Carville in, The War Room said:" the second most sacred thing an individual can give besides their love is their labor, and mix those two together and something' special evolves"!
2) Make a donation of $10 or $25. Any donation given to the campaign can be considered a tax credit for your Ohio income tax, up to $50 for an individual or $100 for a joint return. No matter how small your donation it shows you support the campaign!
3) Send an email to 10 of your friends about Ted Strickland and ask them to sign up for our campaign email updates!
(To find and contact your local Democratic County Party, use the following link found on the ODP website [www.ohiodems.org] and while there, ask how you can help get Progressives and Democrats elected / reelected to the Ohio Legislature in 2006 [don't forget about to ask how to help out your local fellow Progressives and Democrats this year in 2005 to start building the, “Foundation and Farm Team” for future races to help make it easier for the next Democratic Governor pass their agenda once elected)
Link to Ohio Democratic County Parties:

4) Contact your local county Democrat Party to ask them about their endorsement process. Let them know about Ted Strickland, and tell them why you believe he should be our next Governor!
5) Write an editorial to your local newspaper as to why Ted's plan for change here in Ohio would benefit folk's locally (if you don't succeed in your first letter to the editor, keep sending them in en masse and eventually they will publish it -- if at first you don't succeed, try, try again and when it does, send it in to the campaign or post it here)!
Let the campaign know of these issues affecting your community (can use that as material for your newspaper editorials) and let others know that "Help is on the way" because a Ted Strickland led Administration says: "I won’t stand by and let that happen!” (quote from current website message -- see below for full text)
6) Adopt a Precinct. Go down to your local boards of elections and get a list (there may be a charge for the lists) of democrat and independents in your ward / precinct and start to coordinate efforts and seek out volunteers for Ted (if your precinct has a vacancy -- the board of elections has that info -- go ahead and fill out a petition to run for the open seat)!
7) Attend local festivals and fairs during the summer months and email the campaign that you would like to be a point person in charge of helping them register new volunteers!
8) Tell Ted what is happening in your area and how his message is being received as feedback as to how his campaign for Change and Progress is resonating in your “neighborhood,” – why? Because Ted Listens!
9) Host and organize an Ohioan's for Strickland Meetup in your county / city / neighborhood. Show Ted your county is ready to help fight with him, win the primary, and carry his message across the rest of the State as he is already fighting for you by announcing his candidacy!
Democrats live in all 88 counties here in Ohio (and Ted will need them all organized since we do have a contested primary and let's all worry about the other party once we get passed March 7, 2006), so in counties that do not have a Ted Strickland for Governor presence so far contact them letting them know what 10 ways you are supporting Ted at the grassroots level!
10) HAVE FUN! Make new connections and contacts for future campaigns because the Democratic Fight won't end in 2006!
Note: There are actually hundreds of ways everyone can get involved in energizing Ted's campaign. Start sowing the, “grassroots seeds of change” as we begin the long journey towards Primary Day – and beyond; freely share thoughts and ideas to progress Ted's cause forward – other supporters may have suggestions as to how to make a great idea even better – and more successful – as we succeed, Ted succeeds, then Ohio and America succeeds! -- The Longest Journey Begins With A Single Step
