Welcome to the on-line home of the Montgomery County Democratic Party. I hope that our website is helpful in learning about our local party, as well as useful in letting us know your level of interest in helping elect Democrats in 2012.
The year 2012 brings both challenges and opportunity to the Democratic Party. In 2011 we were successful in repealing Senate Bill 5, which was one of the most anti-working family bills the Republicans have ever passed. Additionally we elected Mayors, council members, Trustees and school board members in all corners of Montgomery County. In 2012 we have the opportunity to move our nation, state and local community forward. We must do everything we can to re-elect President Barack Obama and Senator Sherrod Brown. Our nation has made great progress since President Obama took office and we can't go back to the failed policies of the past. This election is a choice between policies that help middle class families on Main Street and those that help Wall Street. We need your help to make sure that Main Street wins this time.
Additionally we have important elections locally. County Commissioners Judy Dodge and Debbie Lieberman are up for re-election. We also have County Recorder Willis Blackshear, County Clerk of Court's Greg Brush, County Treasurer Carolyn Rice, County Prosecutor Mat Heck and County Engineer Paul Gruner up for re-election. We have a redrawn congressional district that puts all of Montgomery County in one district for the first time in years. We can make grounds in the State House by electing Rick McKiddy to the State Senate and re-electing Clayton Luckie and Roland Winburn as State Representatives. Electing Caroline Gentry and Carl Fisher will help us re-take the Ohio House and Ohio can get back to creating jobs rather than attacking public servants.
In the Supreme Court we can keep Justice Yvette McGee Brown, the first Democrat on the Supreme Court in a decade. Juvenile Court Judge Nick Kuntz is up for re-election and Carley Ingram, a Montgomery County Prosecutor is our Endorsed Democrat for the Second District Court of Appeals.
